Quick answer

What does personal information removal in Colorado include?

It starts with an audit of everything public about you and your household: broker listings, social media, old profiles, property and court records and images of your home. We then submit opt-outs and Colorado Privacy Act deletion requests where the law applies, harden accounts and document what cannot be removed. Our Colorado pricing page lists the $900 remote service.

01Who calls us

Who in Colorado Benefits From a Smaller Online Footprint

The clients who ask for this work share one thing: someone has a reason to find them. Nurses and physicians followed after a shift, teachers targeted over a classroom dispute, judges and prosecutors, survivors leaving an abusive partner, executives facing activist campaigns and business owners harassed by a former employee all come to us. Fast-growing Front Range suburbs mean many people have moved recently and assume their new address is private, when broker sites may list it within months. Our Centennial investigators see that pattern often.

Mountain and rural residents are not immune. A person who moved to a small Western Slope or San Luis Valley town for privacy can be easier to find there, because one property record and one local news mention identify them immediately. The audit shows you that exposure before someone else uses it. When a specific person is already following or contacting you, our Colorado stalking investigations come first, and our harassment documentation service preserves the evidence.

02The legal framework

What Colorado Privacy Law Does and Does Not Require

The Colorado Privacy Act, in effect since July 1, 2023, gives consumers rights against covered businesses: to opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising and certain profiling, and to access, correct and delete personal data. As read in the 2025 statutes, a controller generally must respond within 45 days, with one possible 45-day extension. It covers businesses that process data of 100,000 or more Colorado consumers a year, or that profit from selling data of 25,000 or more. Our compliance audit team reviews the same framework from the business side.

The law has limits. Only the Attorney General and district attorneys enforce it, so there is no private lawsuit, and smaller companies below the thresholds are not covered. We found no Colorado data broker registry like those some other states keep. Since July 1, 2024, covered businesses must also honor universal opt-out signals for sales and targeted advertising. We use these rights where they apply and the brokers' own opt-out processes everywhere else, and our guide to lawful investigator methods explains the broader limits.

  • Opt out of sale, targeted ads and profiling
  • Access, correct and delete personal data
  • Responses generally due within 45 days
  • Enforced by the Attorney General, not private suits

03Step one

The Exposure Audit: Seeing Yourself the Way a Stalker Would

We begin the way an adversary would, with only your name and perhaps a city. From there we look for your home address, phone numbers, email addresses, relatives, vehicles, workplace, children's schools and photos of your house. We check people-search sites, social media, cached and archived pages, old forum posts, fundraising pages, wedding and real estate listings and public records such as property and court filings. The result shows which pieces connect to which. Our OSINT research specialists use the same techniques when locating people for courts.

The audit report ranks exposures by risk. A broker page listing your current address and your teenager's name ranks higher than an old professional profile. We also note household members, because a spouse's public business filing or a child's sports roster can lead straight to your door. Colorado's open records law allows any person to inspect most public records, so property and court information will remain findable even after brokers are cleared, and we plan around that. Our Littleton investigators handle many south metro audits.

04Step two

Opt-Outs, Deletion Requests and Account Hardening

Removal is methodical work. We submit opt-out and deletion requests to people-search sites and data brokers, using Colorado Privacy Act rights where a business is covered and the broker's own process where it is not. We track every request, confirm removals and resubmit when a site ignores or reverses one. Search engine results that point to removed pages can then be requested for refresh. For clients whose information was posted maliciously, our anonymous account research identifies who is behind the posts.

Account hardening closes the doors that remain. We review privacy settings across your social media, tighten who can see friends lists and tagged photos, look for reused passwords exposed in public breach data and recommend multi-factor authentication. We also suggest small habit changes: a separate mailing address for deliveries, a different number for online forms, and care with fitness apps that map routes from home. Our Colorado Springs team often pairs this with family briefings for military households.

  • Colorado Privacy Act deletion requests where covered
  • Social media and account settings tightened
  • Breach exposure and password reuse reviewed

05Honest limits

What Personal Information Removal in Colorado Cannot Reach

Some information stays public by law. County property records, court filings, professional licenses, and business registrations with the Secretary of State are government records, and the Colorado Open Records Act opens most public records to any person. News articles and posts by other people rarely come down on request. We tell you plainly what will remain and focus on breaking the links between those records and your current address. Our real estate risk team helps clients think through how property is titled going forward.

Colorado offers two important tools for higher-risk clients. The Address Confidentiality Program, run by the state's Division of Central Services, gives eligible survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking a legal substitute address that state and local agencies must accept, with enrollment through a certified application assistant. Separately, C.R.S. § 18-9-313 lets protected persons such as health care workers, educators, judges, prosecutors and public defenders ask government officials to remove their personal information from online records. Our Denver investigators help clients prepare that documentation.

06When it is already happening

Doxxing, Harassment and Protection Orders in Colorado

Under C.R.S. § 18-9-313, it is generally a class 1 misdemeanor to knowingly post a protected person's personal information, or their family's, when the posting poses an imminent and serious threat and the poster knows or should know it. Harassment through repeated electronic messages is a separate offense under § 18-9-111, and stalking that includes placing someone under surveillance is a felony under § 18-3-602. We preserve the posts with dates, URLs and screenshots before they vanish. Our online harassment investigations and stalking evidence team work together on these cases.

A civil protection order may be the fastest practical relief, and petitioners who are victims of stalking or domestic abuse pay no filing fee. We organize the evidence so your attorney or a court advocate can present it clearly. When the order needs to be delivered, courts and sheriffs often serve it, and our Colorado process servers can do so when the court and client direct. If the harasser is a former employee or a competitor, our workplace harassment team can help identify them.

07Staying private

Re-Listing, Monitoring and Long-Term Privacy Habits

Data brokers buy new data constantly, so removed listings can reappear months later, especially after a move, a refinance or a new utility account. We recommend rechecks at intervals that match your risk, often three and six months after the initial wipe, billed at $100 per hour under a written scope. Each recheck repeats the core searches, resubmits removals and flags new exposure. Clients relocating along the I-25 corridor often schedule a recheck after closing, and our Arvada team handles many west metro moves.

Long-term privacy is mostly habit. Use a mailing address that is not your home where possible, keep children's names and schools off public posts, ask family members to avoid tagging your location and think before joining public neighborhood groups under your real name. For businesses whose leaders face threats, our general risk management service builds privacy into broader security planning, and our active shooter risk audits address workplace safety.

Statewide coverage

Privacy services across Colorado

The OSINT wipe is a remote service, so it works the same in Denver, Aurora, Colorado Springs or a small mountain town. Clients across the Front Range, from Fort Collins to Pueblo, use it after moves or threats, while Western Slope and resort-area residents often want to keep a second home private. When field work is needed, our Castle Rock investigators and others statewide can assist. See the Colorado investigations home page or our Wyoming investigations overview for regional coverage.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you remove my information from the entire internet?

No one honestly can. Government records such as property and court filings stay public, and posts by other people rarely come down on request. What we can do is remove most broker and people-search listings, request deletions where the Colorado Privacy Act applies, harden your accounts and break the links that connect public records to your current address. The audit shows you what will remain.

Does the Colorado Privacy Act let me force brokers to delete my data?

It gives consumers rights to opt out, access, correct and delete personal data held by covered businesses, generally with a 45-day response period. Coverage depends on thresholds, such as processing data of 100,000 Colorado consumers a year, and only the Attorney General and district attorneys enforce the law. For brokers outside it, we use their own opt-out processes.

I am a nurse. Do I have extra protection in Colorado?

Health care workers are among the protected persons in C.R.S. § 18-9-313, along with educators, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, peace officers and others. A protected person may ask government officials in writing to remove their personal information from online records, and posting that information when it poses an imminent and serious threat can be a class 1 misdemeanor. We help prepare the request.

What is Colorado's Address Confidentiality Program?

It is a state program, run by the Division of Central Services, that gives eligible survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking a substitute address that state and local agencies must accept, along with mail forwarding. Applicants enroll through a certified application assistant at a victim services provider. We can coordinate our removals with that process when a client is enrolling.

How long does personal information removal in Colorado take?

The audit usually takes days. Removals take longer because brokers respond on their own timelines, and Colorado Privacy Act responses can take up to 45 days. We track every request and report progress as removals are confirmed. We do not promise turnaround in hours, but urgent risks, such as a current address on a site a harasser uses, are handled first.

Will my information come back?

Often some of it does. Brokers buy fresh data after moves, refinances and new accounts, so removed listings can reappear. That is why we recommend rechecks at three and six months, billed at $100 per hour, and simple habits that slow new exposure. Our Colorado pricing schedule lists the rates for follow-up work.

Can you find out who doxxed me?

Sometimes. Using lawful methods and public information, we look for patterns in usernames, writing, posting times and connected accounts. We never hack accounts or impersonate anyone to get information. Where a court case is filed, counsel can seek records from platforms through legal process, and our findings can support that request. See our cyberbullying investigations for details.

Should I also contact police?

If you face threats, stalking or harassment, yes. Report it to local law enforcement and keep copies of everything. Our evidence capture is designed to help, not replace, a police report. If you need a civil protection order, we organize the evidence so your attorney or a court advocate can present it, and our protection order service team can deliver it when directed.

Is Delator licensed for privacy work in Colorado?

Colorado stopped licensing private investigators after its program lapsed in 2020, and privacy removal work does not require a state investigator credential. Delator Group is a licensed Tennessee private investigation firm, insured, holding itself to Tennessee's licensing standard everywhere it works. Our guide to vetting a Colorado investigator explains what to ask any firm.

Can you do this for my whole family?

Yes. Household exposure is often the real risk, since a spouse's business filing or a child's team roster can reveal your address. We include household members you list at intake, adjust the scope and confirm the price in writing before work begins. Children's information, also central to our missing child work, is handled with extra care and is never shared outside the engagement.
