Quick answer
What are process server rates in Georgia?
Delator Field Services publishes Routine starting rates from $125 to $260 depending on the county, with Urgent at 1.5 times, Rush at 2 times and Same Day Rush at 3 times Routine. Fulton County starts at $125 Routine. Use the finder on this page or the statewide Georgia process server overview, then confirm the final price in writing.
01How the numbers are built
How Delator Sets a Starting Rate for Each Georgia County
Every county in the table carries one Routine figure, and that figure comes from two inputs: how many people live in the county and how far it sits from the nearest metro area. Dense counties produce steady volume and short drives between addresses, so 26 Georgia counties share the $125 starting point. Sparse counties far from any metro require longer trips for a single attempt, which is why the southwest corner of the state reaches $230 to $260. The result is a published schedule rather than a number invented on the phone.
Those two inputs explain a few results that surprise people. Whitfield and Catoosa counties sit at $125 because Dalton and the Chattanooga side of the state line form their own metro pocket, and our Dalton process server page shows how that corridor works. Bryan and Liberty counties also start at $125 because of their pull toward Savannah. Richmond County, home to Augusta, starts at $150, while Muscogee County and Columbus start at $135, and Bibb County and Macon start at $130.
None of these process server rates in Georgia is a promise that every serve costs exactly the listed amount. Location inside the county, the tier you choose and whether the papers arrive complete can all move the figure, and the written quote states the final number before a server is assigned. If the quote is higher than the table, it will say why. Counties with their own pages, such as Fulton County process service, repeat the same published figure so the numbers never conflict.
- 26 counties start at $125 Routine
- Baker County is the top of the scale at $260
- Population and distance to a metro drive the figure
- Final price stated in writing before assignment
02Choosing a tier
Routine, Urgent, Rush and Same Day Rush in Georgia
The tier controls how quickly the first attempt happens, and the price follows from the Routine figure. Routine targets a first attempt within five to seven days, which suits most summons and complaint packages because Georgia's Civil Practice Act generally asks the server to act within five days of receiving the papers but does not void a later serve. Urgent targets three to five days at 1.5 times Routine. In Fulton County that means $125 Routine and $188 Urgent.
Rush targets a first attempt within one to two days at twice the Routine figure, so a $125 county becomes $250. Same Day Rush aims for an attempt within two hours of receipt at three times Routine, and its availability is assessed case by case because it depends on where the address is and what time the papers arrive. Dispossessory answers come due seven days after service, so landlords and their counsel often ask about faster tiers; our Georgia eviction papers page explains what we confirm with the court first.
Choose the slowest tier the calendar allows. A deposition subpoena with three weeks of lead time rarely needs Rush, while a temporary hearing in a divorce set for Friday may. When you are not sure, send the papers with the hearing or answer date and we will recommend a tier in the quote. The same day and rush service page covers how compressed jobs are staffed.
03Metro Atlanta
What Serving Papers Costs Across Metro Atlanta
Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett, Clayton, Henry, Cherokee, Forsyth, Douglas, Paulding, Rockdale, Fayette, Coweta and Newton counties all start at $125 Routine. That shared figure reflects how many addresses sit inside the Perimeter and along the I-75, I-85, GA 400 and I-20 corridors. A law firm with defendants in Sandy Springs, Lawrenceville and Marietta can expect the same Routine starting point for all three, with each listed separately in one written quote.
Density does not always mean easy. High-rise lobbies, gated subdivisions and apartment complexes with controlled entry can take extra visits, but the published starting rate still governs the quote. Georgia law generally lets a person authorized to serve enter a gated community for a reasonable time after identifying the person to be served and showing photo ID and proof of appointment, so planning matters more than price. Our pages for Gwinnett County service, Cobb County process serving and the DeKalb County process server describe each county's courthouses.
Just outside the core, Bartow starts at $130, Butts and Pike at $135, Troup and Haralson at $140, and Meriwether at $150. Those counties sit at the edge of the metro, where drives between addresses lengthen. If your case involves both a Fulton defendant and a witness in Troup County, the quote shows each county's figure on its own line so you can see exactly where the cost comes from.
- Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett: $125 Routine
- Clayton, Henry, Cherokee, Forsyth: $125 Routine
- Bartow $130, Troup $140, Meriwether $150
- Each county listed on its own quote line
04Beyond Atlanta
Coastal, Middle and South Georgia Starting Rates
Chatham County, home to Savannah and the state's busiest coastal courthouses, starts at $125 Routine, with Effingham at $130 and Glynn and Camden at $150 and $145. Further inland along I-16, Bulloch County and Statesboro start at $130, while Laurens, Emanuel and Candler counties sit at $190. Our Savannah process server page and the Statesboro process server page list the courts that issue most of the papers in that corridor.
Middle Georgia shows a similar pattern. Bibb County starts at $130 and Houston County at $145, so a case filed in Macon with a defendant in Warner Robins stays in a narrow band. Peach and Crawford counties sit at $180 and $190, and the counties east toward Twiggs and Wilkinson reach $230. Along the Florida line, Lowndes County and Valdosta start at $180 and Dougherty County and Albany start at $195, while Thomas, Colquitt and Tift counties sit at $230.
The southwest corner carries the highest figures in the state. Baker County is $260, Clay, Miller, Quitman and Seminole are $255, and Calhoun, Early and Webster are $250. Counties there are sparsely populated and distant from any metro, and a single attempt can take most of a day. The table below lists every one of the 159 counties, and the Albany process server page explains how southwest Georgia work is scheduled.
05What the rate does not include
Court Costs, Sheriff Fees and Witness Tenders Are Separate
Our rate covers the serve: the attempts, the delivery and the signed affidavit. Court costs belong to the court. Filing fees vary by county and case type; the Pickens County dispossessory form posted in September 2026, for example, lists a $110 filing fee plus $50 for each additional person. Those amounts are paid to the clerk, not to Delator Field Services, and they apply whether the sheriff or a private server delivers the papers.
Sheriffs publish their own fee schedules when they serve. The Fulton County Sheriff lists $10 for a subpoena served in Georgia and $50 for process from other counties, and the Cobb County Sheriff lists $10 for subpoenas and $50 for process from other counties or states. When a paper type in a particular county must go through the sheriff, we say so in writing and the sheriff's fee applies instead of ours. The Georgia guide on who can serve process explains when that happens.
Witness subpoenas carry one more cost that is not ours. Under O.C.G.A. 24-13-25, a witness generally receives $25 per day plus 45 cents per mile when traveling from outside the county, and a subpoena to an out-of-county witness is generally valid only if that tender is served with it. Counsel provides the tender, and our server delivers it with the subpoena and notes it on the return. Our subpoena service in Georgia page covers acceptable forms of tender.
06Planning a budget
Budgeting a Georgia Case With Several Parties or Counties
Multi-party cases are where a published table earns its keep. A commercial dispute might name a Gwinnett corporation, an officer living in Forsyth County and a guarantor in Glynn County. Using the table, counsel can see $125, $125 and $150 Routine before calling anyone, then decide whether the coastal serve needs Urgent. The written quote repeats those numbers and adds nothing that was not discussed first, which keeps client billing predictable.
Registered agents change the math in a helpful way. Some Georgia entities list a registered agent in a different county from where they operate, so a business defendant based in a $230 county may be served through an agent in a $125 county. We confirm the current registered agent before quoting, and our registered agent service page explains the officer, managing agent and Secretary of State paths under O.C.G.A. 9-11-4(e)(1).
Firms with a steady Georgia docket can ask for the quote format that suits their billing, whether one job per matter or one sheet per week. The rate does not change with volume claims or promises; the county table is the starting point for everyone. Attorneys who want a single point of contact for recurring work can read about process serving for Georgia attorneys, and the hard-to-serve defendants page explains how repeat attempts are handled within the quote.
07Across state lines
Pricing Georgia Serves for Tennessee and Out-of-State Cases
Delator Field Services is managed from Nashville, Tennessee, and has no Georgia office, so a large share of our Georgia work comes from cases filed elsewhere. A Tennessee divorce with a spouse in Catoosa County, a Florida collection suit with a debtor in Lowndes County, or a Carolina contract case with an officer in Richmond County is priced from the same table as a Georgia filing. Tell us which rule your court follows for service outside its state, and we match the affidavit to it.
Georgia's neighbors are covered on their own pages and in one combined finder. The multistate process serving price map shows county rates for Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky alongside the other states where Delator Field Services works. Cases that reach across the Savannah River can start from our South Carolina process servers page, and the out-of-state papers service explains how foreign subpoenas are domesticated through a Georgia superior court clerk first.
Whatever the origin of the case, the order of events does not change: papers in, county identified, tier chosen, price confirmed in writing, then the first attempt. That sequence is why we publish these process server rates in Georgia at all. Counsel should be able to check the number before the conversation starts, and the conversation should only confirm it.

Fulton County starts at $125 Routine, $188 Urgent, $250 Rush and $375 Same Day Rush. Those are published starting rates; the final price is confirmed in writing before the first attempt. The Fulton County process server page lists the Fulton courthouses and the sheriff and marshal units that handle papers there.
Why do some Georgia counties cost more than others?
Each Routine figure reflects the county's population and its distance from the nearest metro area. Dense counties have shorter drives between addresses, so 26 counties share the $125 starting point. Sparse counties in the southwest, such as Baker at $260, require long trips for a single attempt, and the rate reflects that time on the road.
Do process server rates in Georgia include more than one attempt?
The quoted price covers the attempts needed to complete a serve at that address under the tier you chose, with every attempt logged. If an address turns out to be wrong or a new address appears, we tell you before doing anything that would change the price. Our hard-to-serve defendants page explains how repeat attempts are planned.
Is the price in the table the final price?
It is a published starting rate. Location within the county, urgency and whether the papers arrive complete can affect the final figure, and the written quote states the exact number before a server is assigned. If the quote differs from the table, it explains why. We do not add charges after the fact that were not in the written quote.
Are sheriff fees or court filing fees included?
No. Filing fees are paid to the clerk, and sheriffs charge their own fees when they serve; Fulton and Cobb, for example, list $10 for subpoenas and $50 for process from other counties. Where a county requires a paper to go through the sheriff, we tell you in writing and the sheriff's fee applies instead of ours.
What does Same Day Rush cost in Georgia?
Same Day Rush is three times the county's Routine rate, so a $125 county becomes $375 and a $180 county becomes $540. It aims for an attempt within two hours of receipt, and availability is assessed case by case. The same day and rush process serving page explains when it makes sense.
Who pays the witness fee on a Georgia subpoena?
The party issuing the subpoena does. Under O.C.G.A. 24-13-25, a witness is generally entitled to $25 per day plus 45 cents per mile from outside the county, and an out-of-county witness subpoena is generally valid only if served with that tender. That amount is separate from our service rate, and our server notes the tender on the return.
Can I get one quote for defendants in several Georgia counties?
Yes. Send every name and address together and we return a single written quote listing each county's rate and tier on its own line. That format suits multi-party commercial cases and collection dockets. The Georgia attorney process serving page explains how recurring work is organized.
Do you charge the same rate for a dispossessory summons?
We price a dispossessory only after confirming that the filing magistrate court accepts an approved process server for that summons, since the 2025 change to O.C.G.A. 44-7-51 does not define who is approved and practice varies. If the court sends it to the sheriff, we tell you. We never carry out evictions or writs; see our eviction and dispossessory service page.
Where can I compare Georgia with neighboring states?
The multistate process serving price map lets you choose a state and a county and see the same four tiers. Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky are process serving only for Delator Field Services, and each has its own statewide page, such as our Kentucky process servers page.
