Quick answer
Can an investigator prove an affair with a coworker in Idaho?
Often, yes. Investigators cannot enter a private workplace or question the employer, but most workplace affairs leave the building: lunches, after-shift meetings, shared rides and work trips. Those moments can be lawfully observed and photographed in public places. Our Idaho infidelity surveillance documents them at $100 per hour, with the plan confirmed in writing first.
01Idaho workplaces
Fabs, Labs, Plants and Hospitals: Where Idaho Workplace Affairs Start
Idaho's large employers run on schedules that make an affair easy to hide. Micron is headquartered in Boise and has announced plans for two memory fabs in the southeast part of the city, Idaho National Laboratory reports more than 5,500 employees based in Idaho Falls, and the Chobani plant in Twin Falls opened in 2012. Rotating shifts, overtime and training trips are normal in places like these, so a claim of working late is hard to question. Our Idaho Falls workplace investigators know the eastern Idaho commute patterns well.
Smaller workplaces create their own opportunities. A dental office in Meridian, a dairy operation in the Magic Valley or a construction crew in Canyon County may involve the same few people working closely for years. The pattern we see most is a relationship that grows from rides to the job site, shared lunches and after-work drinks. Our Twin Falls investigative team covers the I-84 and US-93 corridor employers, and every case starts with targeted off-site surveillance rather than guesswork.
02The work
What We Can Document Without Setting Foot in the Workplace
The workplace itself is off limits. We do not enter private offices, plant floors or secured campuses, and we never pose as a customer, vendor or job applicant to get inside. What we observe is everything around the job: who your spouse leaves with, where they eat lunch, whether a short errand ends at a coworker's apartment and whether a work trip includes a shared room. When those trips end at lodging, our hotel stay documentation applies.
Identifying the coworker is often the first step. Through lawful observation and public records, we can usually establish the person's name, residence and relationship status, and a $102 basic or $300 deep-dive check through our companion background research fills in the rest. The final report presents meetings in date order with photographs, and it never speculates about what happened in private. If the marriage is heading to court, our married infidelity specialists prepare the file for your attorney.
- Departures with the coworker after shift
- Lunches and meetings away from the job site
- Shared rides, carpools and vehicle swaps
- Travel and conference stays together
- Visits to either person's residence
03Time and money
Checking Overtime, Late Shifts and Business Travel Claims
Claimed overtime is the most common cover story. If your spouse says they worked until nine but their car leaves the lot at five, the gap is the question. We document departure times, destinations and returns on the specific nights you identify, and we compare them with the explanation given. You should use only information you have a lawful right to see, such as a shared calendar or a joint account statement, when deciding which nights to cover.
Money tells part of the story too. In Idaho, income earned during the marriage is generally community property under Idaho Code § 32-906, so spending on a coworker, from dinners to hotel rooms, may matter to your attorney. Pay stubs that show no overtime on the nights your spouse claimed to be working are a common starting point. Our Idaho asset tracing team follows the spending, and the divorce asset guide for Idaho explains what to gather lawfully.
04For employers
When the Employer Needs to Know: Supervisors, Subordinates and Risk
Sometimes the client is the company. A relationship between a manager and a direct report can lead to favoritism complaints, retaliation claims or a sexual harassment charge, especially after the relationship ends. The Idaho Human Rights Act prohibits sex discrimination in employment under Idaho Code § 67-5909 and applies to employers with five or more employees, and complaints generally must be filed within one year. Our workplace harassment investigators conduct neutral, documented inquiries.
Idaho employment is generally at will under case law, but a poorly documented termination can still lead to claims built on handbook promises or public policy. Before acting on rumors about a supervisor's relationship, HR needs facts gathered fairly and lawfully. Our corporate investigations team interviews witnesses and reviews records the company controls, while our wrongful termination case support helps counsel on either side understand what the evidence shows.
05Legal limits
Trespass, Recording and Why We Never Call Your Spouse's Employer
Workplace properties are private, and Idaho Code § 18-7008 makes it a trespass to remain after being told to leave or to enter land posted against trespassing. We observe from public streets and businesses open to everyone, and we leave immediately if asked. We also do not record conversations: Idaho's eavesdropping statute, § 18-6702, generally makes intercepting a conversation you are not part of a felony. Our summary of lawful investigator conduct covers both rules.
Contacting the employer is a line we do not cross in a personal case. A call to HR can cost your spouse their job, damage your negotiating position and expose you to claims, and it rarely produces usable evidence. If you are the employer and want lawful monitoring of company property, that is a separate service handled by our workplace monitoring investigators under the company's own policies.
06Discretion
Small Towns, Small Offices and Staying Unnoticed
In much of Idaho, a coworker affair plays out in a town where the investigator's car may be the only unfamiliar vehicle on the street. We rotate vehicles, change positions and favor short, well-timed shifts over long stakeouts. In Bingham County, for example, our Blackfoot investigators plan coverage around the fact that employees of the same business often live a few blocks apart, while our Sandpoint surveillance team works the Pacific Time schedules of Bonner County employers.
Discretion also means choosing the right firm. Idaho has no statewide private investigator license, though some cities, such as Chubbuck and Coeur d'Alene, regulate investigators or detective agents locally, so current rules should be checked for work inside those limits. Delator Group carries a Tennessee private investigation license and brings that discipline to coworker-affair files in Idaho. Our guide to vetting an Idaho investigator lists the questions to ask.
07Price
What Workplace Infidelity Investigations Cost
We bill $100 per hour for surveillance, with mileage and travel disclosed before the first shift. Because workplace affairs follow a schedule, most cases need only a few targeted windows: the end of a claimed overtime shift, a lunch hour or the evenings of a work trip. That focus keeps the total predictable. Our published Idaho investigation rates list every figure.
Companion research costs $102 for a basic check or $300 for a deep-dive. Work trips outside Idaho are coordinated at the same hourly rate, with airfare and lodging quoted before booking. The scope, the hours and the total are confirmed in writing, and nothing is added without your approval. To discuss your situation privately, contact Delator leadership or call (629) 310-8667.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Will you contact my spouse's employer?
No. In a personal case we never contact the employer, coworkers or anyone else connected to the job. Doing so could cost your spouse their position, weaken your legal position and expose you to claims. Everything we document comes from lawful observation in public places and from public records, which keeps the evidence clean.
Can you go inside the workplace?
No. Offices, plants, labs and secured campuses are private property, and Idaho Code § 18-7008 makes remaining after being told to leave a trespass. We do not pose as customers or vendors to get inside. Most workplace affairs leave evidence outside the building, in parking lots, restaurants and residences, which is where we focus.
How do you check whether overtime is real?
We cover the specific nights your spouse says they are working late and document when they actually leave, where they go and when they return. If the car leaves at five and arrives home at ten, the report shows the gap. You choose the nights using information you lawfully have, such as a shared calendar.
Can you identify the coworker?
Usually, yes. Observation often reveals the coworker's vehicle and residence, and public records then establish a name and background. A basic check costs $102 and a deep-dive costs $300. We never contact the coworker or ask the employer, and our Idaho background research uses lawful public-records sources only, delivered in writing.
Does a workplace affair affect an Idaho divorce?
It can. Idaho Code § 32-603 lists adultery as a divorce ground, and § 32-705 includes fault among the spousal maintenance factors. Community funds spent on the coworker may also matter. Property division under § 32-712 does not list fault, so your attorney will decide how the evidence should be used and whether it supports a maintenance argument.
I am an employer. Can you investigate a manager's relationship?
Yes, as a neutral workplace inquiry. We interview witnesses, review records the company controls and report facts without conclusions about discipline. Under the Idaho Human Rights Act, employers with five or more employees face sex discrimination rules that include harassment, so documentation matters. Our Idaho corporate investigators handle these inquiries.
Can you record my spouse's conversations with the coworker?
No. Idaho Code § 18-6702 generally makes it a felony to intercept a conversation you are not part of, and our investigators are never parties to those conversations. We rely on photographs, lawful video of public conduct and detailed written logs, which are usually more useful in court anyway. Our Idaho recording law guide explains why.
What if the affair happens on work trips out of state?
We coordinate coverage at the destination at the same hourly rate, with airfare, lodging and mileage quoted before anything is booked. The report reads as one record from departure to return, with each observation logged in the correct time zone. Our out-of-state infidelity team explains how the travel logistics are handled.
How many shifts does a coworker-affair case need?
Because work follows a schedule, many cases are answered in two to four shifts timed to claimed overtime, lunches or a known trip. We report after each shift so you can decide whether to continue. No added hours are worked without your written approval, so the total stays within the budget you set.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. Your file is shared only with you and anyone you authorize, such as your attorney. We use the communication channel you choose and avoid anything your spouse might see, such as a shared email account. Our team background explains the military and federal law enforcement experience behind that discipline.
