Licensing
How Oklahoma Licenses Private Investigators
Oklahoma regulates investigators under the Oklahoma Security Guard and Private Investigator Act, found at 59 O.S. Section 1750.1 and following. The Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training, known as CLEET, administers it through its Private Security Division. The division licenses private investigators, security guards and the agencies that employ them, and it sets training and testing requirements for each license type.
A client should check two things. The investigator needs a current CLEET private investigator license, which may be unarmed or armed, and the business needs an agency license. CLEET requires an agency application even for a self-employed investigator. Applications run through an online portal, but the division's pages do not describe a public search, so confirm numbers directly with the division.
Courts
How Oklahoma Courts Are Organized
Oklahoma's trial courts of general jurisdiction are the district courts, with a district court in each of the 77 counties. Under the state constitution, they have broad original jurisdiction, so one court hears civil suits, criminal cases, divorce and custody, probate, juvenile matters and small claims. District judges, associate district judges and special judges divide the work. Cities operate municipal courts for ordinance and traffic violations.

Recording without any participant's consent can be a crime, and an attorney can confirm the rules for your situation.
